Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Bowled’em. By accessing or using this Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
Bowled’em is a mobile-first web application for scoring cricket matches — gully, turf, box, backyard, rooftop, or beach — built and operated by an independent individual based in India. Bowled’em is not a registered company, partnership, or LLP under Indian law. It is an independent personal project currently in an active testing phase, seeking product-market fit. We are not affiliated with the BCCI, ICC, ESPNcricinfo, or any official cricket body.
2. Beta & Testing Disclaimer
Bowled’em is a work in progress. The Service is provided in beta form. Features may change, break, or be removed at any time without notice. Data — including match history, career stats, and player cards — may occasionally be lost due to bugs, migrations, or infrastructure changes. We make no guarantees about uptime, data permanence, or feature availability at this stage. By using the Service you accept these risks. If data integrity is critical to you, we recommend keeping your own records.
3. Eligibility & Account Creation
You must be at least 18 years old to use Bowled’em, in accordance with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023. By creating an account you confirm you meet this age requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
We use Google Sign-In (via Google’s OAuth 2.0 service) for authentication. We never receive or store your Google password. You can revoke Bowled’em’s access to your Google account at any time from Google Account → Security → Third-party apps with account access.
4. What You Can Do on Bowled’em
You can create matches, score ball-by-ball, share live links and result-card images with teammates, build career stats by claiming player profiles from past matches, and follow our community on Instagram (@bowledem_club). Live scoring is delivered via WebSocket; anyone with the match link sees ball-by-ball updates in real time.
5. Your Account & Content
When you sign up via Google, we receive your email address, full name, and profile picture URL. Your email is never shown to other users. You may set a public nickname, which can be edited once per account. Your full name as returned by Google is read-only within Bowled’em — to change it, update your Google account.
Team names, player names, match details, scoresheets, and career stats you generate are yours. By using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, process, transmit, and display that content solely to operate the Service: serving live scorecards, computing career stats, generating shareable result and Player Card images, and rendering link previews on WhatsApp and iMessage. We do not sell your content or use it for advertising targeting.
You are solely responsible for the content you enter. Do not enter another person’s real name, phone number, or personal details without their consent. If a player objects to their name appearing in a match, email support@bowledem.com and we will rename or remove the entry within 7 working days.
6. Player Claiming & “Your Team”
When a signed-up user’s name matches a player name in a past match, we automatically link those past performances to their account (“Player Claiming with auto-backfill”). This means runs and wickets recorded before you signed up are credited to you upon joining. You acknowledge this is name-based attribution, not biometric — if two players share a name, both rows are attributed to the first claimant. Disputes can be raised at support@bowledem.com.
The “Your Team” tab shows people you’ve played alongside. The “Invite” button generates a WhatsApp / iMessage link with an attribution token to credit you for successful sign-ups. Sending an invite is voluntary, and the recipient is free to ignore it.
7. Live Scoring & Data Accuracy
Bowled’em is a tool for the scorer to record what happened. We cannot guarantee the scorer’s entries match actual on-pitch events. The scorer’s entry is the official record on Bowled’em; we will not modify a finalised scorecard on a third-party request unless compelled by a valid legal order. If your team disagrees with a scorer’s entry, raise it with your scorer at the time of the match.
Matches in “live” status with no activity for 3+ hours are automatically transitioned to “abandoned.” The data is retained and viewable from your match history — it simply no longer appears as an active game on your dashboard.
8. Acceptable Use
- Do not enter another person’s real name, phone number, address, or photo without their consent.
- Do not upload obscene, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or unlawful content in any field — including team names, player names, nicknames, captions, or profile pictures.
- Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, abuse rate limits, or otherwise interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
- Do not use the Service for betting, prize pools, entry-fee tournaments, fantasy cricket prizes, or any form of gambling. Bowled’em is not licensed for gaming under any Indian state or central law.
- Do not impersonate another person, including teammates or opponents.
- Do not use the Service to spam or send unsolicited messages.
We may suspend or terminate any account that, in our reasonable judgement, violates the above. For serious violations — illegal content, harassment, security abuse — we may act without prior notice.
9. Payments & Pro Membership
Bowled’em does not currently offer paid plans or collect any payments. All features are free to use during this testing phase. We may introduce a Pro membership in the future — if we do, we will update these Terms and notify users in-app before any charges apply.
10. Advertising
All users are currently ad-free. If ads are introduced in the future, we will update these Terms accordingly and will not place ads inside the live scoring screen during an active over.
11. Play at Your Own Risk — No Liability for Injuries or Disputes
Bowled’em is a scoring and communication tool only. We do not organise, supervise, umpire, or have any role in the cricket matches you play. By using the Service you acknowledge:
- Cricket — whether gully, turf, box, backyard, rooftop, or beach — carries inherent physical risks including ball impact, muscle strain, sprains, fractures, concussion, heat injury, dehydration, and collision. You play at your own risk.
- Any dispute, argument, or physical altercation between players before, during, or after a match tracked on Bowled’em is entirely between those individuals. We are not a party to it and bear no responsibility for it.
- We do not verify the identity, age, skill level, or health of any player. You use Bowled’em and play cricket with the people you choose, at your sole discretion.
- We do not provide insurance, medical aid, venue safety checks, or equipment. Arranging these is the responsibility of the players and venue owners.
- We do not verify the accuracy of names entered for players. It is the scorer’s responsibility to type the correct names.
Waiver and release: To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, you waive and release Bowled’em’s founder, contractors, and collaborators from any and all claims, demands, costs, losses, damages, or causes of action — including bodily injury, death, property damage, emotional distress, medical expenses, loss of income, and legal fees — arising out of or relating to your participation in any cricket match tracked on Bowled’em, or any dispute arising between participants.
12. Service Availability, Outages & Force Majeure
We aim for high uptime but do not commit to any particular SLA. The Service depends on third parties — cloud hosting, MongoDB Atlas, and Google — and outages at those providers can interrupt the Service through no fault of ours. We are not liable for downtime caused by internet outages, cellular-network failures, third-party API downtime, regulatory blocks, natural disasters, or any other event outside our control.
We may, with or without notice, take the Service offline for maintenance, security patches, or product changes. We also reserve the right to remove specific matches or accounts if a court order, statutory authority, or grave abuse requires it.
13. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bowled’em’s founder, contractors, and collaborators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages — including loss of data, career-stat history, or business opportunity — arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total aggregate financial liability for any and all claims shall not exceed ₹100, or the total amount you have actually paid to Bowled’em in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is lower.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Indian law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bowled’em’s founder, contractors, and collaborators from any claim, loss, damage, or expense — including reasonable legal costs — arising from: (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your conduct during or around a cricket match; (c) content you enter into the Service; (d) any injury or dispute involving you and another person; or (e) your violation of any applicable law.
15. Intellectual Property
The Bowled’em name, logo, lime-on-black visual identity, scoring engine, design system, and codebase are owned by the founder and protected under Indian copyright law. The name and mark are unregistered, but common law rights are asserted over the brand. You receive a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not crawl, mirror, or republish Bowled’em pages or APIs for commercial purposes without written permission.
Result-card and Player Card images we generate for you may be freely shared by you on social media. By tagging @bowledem_club, you authorise us to re-share that post on our official handles with attribution. We may decline to feature content that is obscene, discriminatory, or violates third-party rights.
16. Data & Privacy
When you sign in via Google, we receive and store your email address, full name, and profile picture URL. We also store match data and in-app activity you generate. This data is processed solely to operate the Service. We do not sell your personal data. We take reasonable technical measures to keep it secure.
Bowled’em is currently operated by an individual and does not yet have a formal Privacy Policy or a designated Data Protection Officer. A full Privacy Policy will be published prior to any formal commercial launch. If you have concerns about your data, email support@bowledem.com and we will respond promptly.
Data deletion requests will be honoured within 7 working days for active profile data, and within 30 days for backup snapshots.
17. Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or are exposing the Service to legal or reputational risk.
You may delete your account at any time from your Profile.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time and will update the “Last updated” date above. For material changes, we’ll try to notify active users in-app. Continued use after changes means you accept them. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
19. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka. Disputes must be raised individually.
